I never really liked 'swimming' as such. My first progress card shows I managed to swim 1 yard at age six! (In contrast my own six year old daughter Nicky is now swimming the length of our pool, and happily retrieving everything she finds off the bottom!). However, my parents persisted and I eventually did learn to swim. Much later in life I found a wholenew use for this skill ....
