Just like Andrew and Belinda our legs were Jelly by the time we got
down the bottom of the staircase. Nat legs were shaking
so much she could hardly walk. We got to the base of the climb
by about 9.15 and started climbing by 9.30.. Opps! also this
was the second toilet stop ;-) I climbed the first too pitches
which must of looked funny to Tove and Nat since both my legs were still
shaking from the walkin. We were climing in a group of three
so the second climber always had the second rope attached as a tail which
we used to belay the third climber on.. This seemed to work very
well as we were making good progress..
To our supprise there were no sighs on any other climbers at this stage...
The climbing was fairly easy with good protection
on most of the pitches. The only place I was unhappy with
pro was on pitch number five where a Large Cam or Hex would
of made me feel confortable.. So i put but in a really badly
over cammed cam for confidence and carried on to a couple of bolts...
Ptich number Six.. The chimney. Not liking the idea of squeezing my way up this, is used a trick was I was shown my a guy that soloed passed me the last time I climbed this pitch. Instead of starting up the chimney, go over the small overhand and onto the face until the chimney gets a little wider. This worked well...
We stopped for lunch in the cave between the Second and third sister.
Before long we were on Top of the second Sister.
We possed for a few Photos (10 or 12 :-) ) before we sat on top and
enjoyed the view..
Two short abseils and a treverse and then we there back to the bridge.. I think we finshed up at 4.00 but Nat was our offical time keeper so she may correct me here. So 6 and a half hours in total..
To sum up, we all had a really good day. Thanks to Tove and Nat whom made it a really enjoyable day..
Cheers,
Geoff
